He would tailor for the majority of the world´s men; he has just been awarded the National Fashion Entrepreneurship Award, being about to present the 1st male fashion show in the history of MB Fashion Week Madrid.
How´s been the evolution of the suit?
The suit you were offered at the store was always the one bought by your grandfather, not how we felt. So we began making classic tailoring with brand new silhouette contours, and moreover, new colours and textures.
What is García Madrid´s inspiration based upon?
We learn a great deal from observing on the street, what we see every day and the people provide once in the store; the way clothes fit them, the matches they make, their interests… Streets reality it is not about a model´s body and that is why you need to trying on in the store and getting opinions. It is paramount for the collection to be alive inside to get it on the street. I do not enjoy creating for any closet or just a picture.
Who would you dress to die for?
I am no mythomaniac, in my view the most important are boys in general. What I would like to do is getting to dress the majority of men in the world, not changing them, to offer them options within their own tastes. When you get a client with special suggestions so you may be working on the suit of his life for that particular day, that is beautiful.
How would you bring fashion to the 7 Islas hotel?
I see it kind of casual, like the collection we presented in Barcelona and we are selling these days in the store, very spontaneous: trainers, Chinese trousers, jackets, Mao necked shirts… a kind of fusion between urban style and traditional tailoring.
Where in the hotel would you set up a fashion show to present your collection?
On the penthouse´s terrace against the view of Madrid rooftops.
Our three most special rooms. Totally designed by Kikekeller, they provide a private terrace with a view of Madrid sky, bathtub or shower and yoga kit. Handcrafted carpets from Gan Rugs and therapeutic and fresh toiletries by Malin + Goetz.
